Deputy Editor, Esquire.com

May 2014 – Present

I oversee Esquire’s 24/7 coverage of news, politics, sports, lifestyle, and web culture. I write, line edit, top edit, and assign multiple stories per day, working with a national network of contributors and many of Esquire’s marquee writers, including Charles P. Pierce, Stephen Marche, Dave Holmes, and Luke O’Neil. I help manage a team of 13 full time editors/writers/designers and over 25 freelancers. I lead Esquire’s ambitious coverage of the 2016 election and numerous other special projects. I was promoted from Associate Editor to News Editor to Senior Editor, News and Politics to Deputy Editor inside of 2 years.

Entertainment Editor, Digital First Media

I strategized daily culture coverage for Project Thunderdome, the national newsroom of Digital First Media—which publishes The Denver Post, San Jose Mercury News, L.A. Daily News, The Salt Lake Tribune and 70 other daily newspapers across the country, serving 61 million readers. I also led long-term enterprise projects and managed all coverage of award shows, live events, and festivals.

The Denver Post

September 2010 – November 2012

I was Managing Editor of The Denver Post’s music site, Reverb, and a Features staff writer for the print paper. I built a stable of 60 freelance writers and photographers, covered every major music festival, created 15 new weekly features, and, as a whole, transformed a scrolling text-heavy blog into a multimedia brand that now averages more than a million unique visitors.

I’ve written longform profiles and cultural criticism for Playboy, The Daily Beast, Vice, Philadelphia Weekly, Paste Magazine, MAGNET magazine, and many websites.
